Now considered a legendary tyre, the Race King heralded the advent of the current Continental MTB tyre range. Irina Kalentieva won two World Championships on Race King tyres as well as countless other wins. When it's dry, the Race King is faster, cleaner and safer. Rolling resistance is almost on a par with race bike tyres. The ProTection model is developed and produced in Korbach, Germany with best materials such as BlackChili compound. This will guarantee significantly better rolling resistance and puncture protection respectively.
Race King ProTection with BlackChili Compound: Maximum puncture protection, with BlackChili Compound. Better than ever before, the new Continental ProTection casing. The extra all-round puncture protection layer renders the casings especially durable and intensive to damage or penetration from foreign elements. Treads and sidewalls are equally protected, and are 25% lighter and offer 30% more puncture protection than their predecessors protected by DuraSkin. Rolling resistance and absorption has also significantly improved. The new Made in Germany technology allows it to withstand even the hardest trails across the world. What's more: they're universally usable, are inspired by BlackChili Compound and have an aesthetically pleasing sidewall design. The new Revolution Tubeless Ready bead improves the application of Tubeless Ready Tires. For optimal results with sealing for tubeless use and whilst riding, we recommend the application of the new Continental RevoSealant.

This unique tread rubber mixture which is only produced in Continental German factory has revolutionized bicycle tyres. The resultant compound showed a new relationship between grip and rolling resistance. This "Elevated level", as it was previously known, was given the name "BlackChili". Countless test wins that were shown in laboratory tests show a tangible benefit. The latest polymers, nanoscale soot particles and optimized fillers all guarantee a unique performance, from downhill MTB tyres to the time trial tyres of the ProTour, they are second to none in their respective areas. BlackChili Compound improves rolling resistance by 26% and provides 30% more grip than activated silica compounds. Premium tyres with BlackChili Compound also impress with higher mileage and unlike many multi-compounds, provide a constant ride from the first to the last kilometer.
