But flat is not always the same as flat. Some pedals taper only at the edges, which barely improves traction. Conversely, models that are bulkier around the axle compromise grip. With the Deore XT PD-M8240 and the Saint PD-G8040, Shimano has developed two truly flat pedal models that optimize both grip and stability.

With their flat design and concave contact surface, the durable PD-M8240 platform pedals from the Deore XT series ensure a secure connection with the bike even on rough terrain and in the air. With 10 replaceable pins per side, the already strong grip is further enhanced. For maximum ease of maintenance, all individual parts of the pedals are replaceable. As the perfect complement, Shimano recommends the SH-GF600 shoes.
