Deore XT – Where Passion Meets Precision.
With its introduction in the 1980s, the Deore XT series revolutionized mountain biking. And its current iteration more than lives up to this legacy. The revised Di2 design stands out in particular, being now completely wireless and enabling correspondingly fast and reliable shifting. This is not the only point where it ties in with the recently launched XTR M9200 series. With its likewise robust drivetrain construction and sophisticated braking system, the Deore XT M8200 is a groupset that not only effortlessly withstands real-world riding situations, but also redefines what is possible on two wheels.
Predictable Power From The First Pull. Shimano Deore XT disc brake set consisting of the BL-M820 lever and the hydraulic BR-M8220 brake caliper. The SERVOWAVE technology, which manages the friction between the brake pads and the brake disc during the entire braking phase, offers an optimized performance curve and a correspondingly more balanced braking performance. In addition, the entire braking system benefits from the mineral oil introduced with the XTR M9200 series, which features a lower viscosity compared to the previous version to keep braking performance constant over a wider temperature range. Smooth and simple maintenance is ensured by the Easy Hose Joint System which makes brake hose replacement considerably easier.

The Deore XT brake levers of the M8200 series are not only characterized by powerful and reliable deceleration performance, but also impress with ergonomics that are perfectly tailored to the hand. This is primarily due to the ERGO FLOW concept, which features a slightly upwardly curved brake lever blade and an optimized, narrower pivot point that follows the natural curve of the finger. The result combines a powerful pull with a smooth lever feel for precise modulation and ultimate control. While the aluminum lever blade is designed for durability, the revised adjustment dial makes it easier to set the reach. The I-Spec EV interface not only ensures a simple connection with the shift lever, but also a tidier cockpit.
Shimano Deore XT BR-M8220 disc brake caliper
The BR-M8220 brake caliper of the current Deore XT series was developed for maximum performance, consistency and control. Accordingly, the Postmount brake features a 4-piston construction with a dual piston diameter and optimized seals for a reliable braking point and constant deceleration performance in all terrain and weather conditions. Equipped in this way, the two-piece caliper achieves a Downhill-compatible performance curve that can cope with the tough demands of Enduro races as well as all-day Trail tours. The revised, oval brake pad mount, which, in conjunction with the perfectly matched brake pad options, eliminates unnecessary noise.
J-Kit (Easy Hose Joint System) | For brake systems with J-Kit brake hose connection, the brake lever has an integrated squeeze seal (olive), which makes the installation and removal of the brake line much easier overall.
Ice Technologies | In order to keep the braking power at longer continuous operation consistently high, Shimano has developed the Ice-Tech cooling technology for brake discs and brake pads. Brake pads with Ice Technologies feature cooling fins made of aluminum, which better dissipate heat. In conjunction with the optimized radiation properties of the rotor, this results in a longer durability of the pads, while brake noise and fading are minimized.
